The hero, Mitch, an upwardly mobile PR exec, and heroine, Ellie, a pastry chef, couldn’t have more divergent views on Christmas. He’s been blackmailed by his boss to serve as Santa for at a hospice ward for children, while she’s happily filling in as Chief Elf, arranging all the goodies for kids, families, and staff – and trying to keep Mitch in line. I love the fact that Hardy keeps her British voice by making Ellie a visiting chef from London, in this story set in the City of Brotherly Love – Philadelphia. And that she helps her obtuse hero see the meaning of the holidays through the love the children express for their siblings in this cancer ward.
As this is a very short story I won’t reveal more about the plot except to say there are some very steamy moments (Santa, really?!) and also some very tender, moving ones that are filled with holiday warmth and cheer.
Do treat yourself and a friend to this wonderful story that will become a Christmas classic on your e-reader (or in my case, my trusty Kindle). And sending off five kisses to Santa for delivering such a great read!
